Personal Statement

My parents have raised me to be kind, honest and trustworthy. I attempt every day to live up to these standards. I have had a golf club in my hand since I was three years old. My dad started taking to the course with him and his buddies when I was five. I was allowed to tee off and then would drop where the guys had hit their drives. My dad would then tell me, "See ya on the green". I would continue to hit until I was on the green and then putt to finish the hole. My passion for the game only grew from that point on. When I was six years old, I began going to camps and summer programs where I began to advance my golfing ability.  When I was ten I joined the Southwest Florida Junior Golf Association. This was my first experience with tournament golf.  I really enjoy the competition and learning how to manage my way around the courses. I have always put my best effort into every match and have grown as a person from those experiences. I will be spending the next couple of years competing with the best junior golfers in my area. I have also joined South Florida PGA Jr. Golf program to get even more experience with tournament golf.  Beginning in February I will be competing, for the second year in a row, with peers in my age group from all over the state. I will also attempt to qualify for PGA Jr. Championship again this year. Once I entered high school I struggled to maintain my game, due to attempting to keep up with the upper class men. I did maintain a good balance between my academics and athletics. Golf has taught me patience and temperament. It has also shown me that with hard work and persistence I can become a better person and golfer. This past season, my sophomore year I was able to assist my team in becoming our local champions as well as to become both county and district champions. My academics are very important to me, I began high school taking honors classes, and I am continuing to further my academics with honors classes. Next year I plan to begin dual enrollment to get a head start on my college career.  I am currently working hard to improve my game while giving my academics the same amount of attention, to be ready for college when the opportunity presents itself.  I am excited to attend college to obtain my degree in Sports Medicine. In fact i am currently enrolled in the Medical Academy at my high school. I am equally excited to become part of a team in order push myself and reach the goals of both myself and the team. I am looking to add great value to the school that is the best fit for us both.
