What makes me different from other recruits is that I am a “late bloomer.” You may think this is a negative, but I see it is a positive. Academics have never come easy to me, but I don’t give up. I look instead for different strategies to get me through the work. This was the main reason I left our public high school and started at The Marvelwood School in my junior year. I will strive to do very well in my senior year and then continue to grow academically as I enter college. I now have momentum.
In terms of golf, I have only played for three years, and have thus not exhausted my potential. I first played a few games in the summer between 8th and 9th grades, and got really motivated to prove to myself that I could learn to play this game well. The fall of 9th grade I “self-taught” myself and joined the Wilton High School Golf club that spring. I did so well, that they let me play a few junior varsity matches. Golf continued to inspire me and I joined the “Golf Performance Academy” in Ridgefield, CT to work on my game, and made the cut for the Junior Varsity team in my sophomore year.
The Marvelwood School, where I have been since my junior year, does not have a golf program. My dedication to the game is so strong however, that in addition to participating in soccer, snowboarding and Lacrosse teams throughout the year, I make time to play golf on the weekends and in every school break. To compensate for the lack of competitive golf at my school, I participate in junior PGA competitions and plan to play more AJGA qualifiers.
My heart is in the game and I am dedicated to improving both my game and my academics to be able to participate in college
I look forward to meeting you!
