Matthew Ashley '13 Recruiting Profile

Hi,  my name is Matthew Ashley, I am 17 years old and  about to begin my Senior year at Valley Christian High School in a few months. I am on the golf team at my school and have been on the varsity since i was a Freshman. I have been a major contributor in each year that I have played, and I really enjoy playing on a team. Over the last three years I have developed a strong passion for golf. Prior to golf I played baseball on a travel team, and  also played NJB Basketball. I am 6'5" tall and weigh 170 pounds. I am very focused on golf and have a strong practice ethic. Every week I plan on what I am going to work on in my game to make me a better player. I spend a lot of time on the range, putting green and course improving my golf game, as well as working out  five to six times a week. I am working hard to get stronger and also more flexible. While I am at the golf course I focus on what I need to do but at the same time have a great time practicing or playing.

I have had a swing coach for the past several years, and we work on many things to help improve my game.  I talk to him on a regular basis, and we are always working to better both my physical and mental game.

I can offer your team my leadership skills on and off the course. I was just a freshman two years ago and yet still made a difference on how we performed. My school work is very important to me and I understand the work that I must put into it to achieve the best grades I can, currently I carry a 3.57 GPA. My goal is to play golf in college on a Division 1 team. I want to play as a freshman and impact the team, and help us to be the best.
