I started playing golf as a two year old because my dad was only allowed to go to the golf course if he took me with him. Little did I know that golf would become my lifelong passion. I am passionate about the game of golf and it is a central component in my life. Aside from my daily practice at the course, I also have a job working at the golf course. My career goal is to work within the field of golf course management.
Although it is an individual sport, I have learned to be a good teammate through the game of golf. I have also learned valuable life skills such as resilience, competitiveness, honesty, and integrity. Because I am young for my grade, I have faced obstacles associated with mental and physical development. However, I am learning to overcome these obstacles through persistence. I have lowered my handicap each season and intend to continue lowering my handicap with the help of my new swing coach. I have received the North Coast Section Scholar Athlete Award and was named to the Distinguished Scholastic Team each season in high school. I have also received awards for being the Most Improved Player and have been recognized for exhibiting commitment to the principles of sportsmanship and victory with honor. This season, I achieved an individual bid to play in the North Coast Section Championship Tournament and participated in this event as a team the previous two years. As a highlight to my season, I earned First-Team All League honors for the Bay Valley Athletic League, which is an award bestowed upon the top ten golfers in the league.
Academics are also of paramount importance in my life. I have maintained a 3.97 cumulative GPA while juggling four Advanced Placement classes. Through continued hard work in the classroom and on the golf course I know that by the end of my senior year I will be ready to move to the next level as a top student and an outstanding team member at the collegiate level.
