My name is Caleb Tregre, and I am a student athlete at Walnut Hills High School in Cincinnati, Ohio, one of the top high schools in Ohio for both academics and basketball. I am a point guard, and my goal is to play competitive basketball at a college or university that is also academically challenging.
I would describe myself as a dribble drive point guard who can score and shoot from a variety of ranges on the court, while also getting the ball to my open teammates. In my opinion, the best shot is the high percentage shot, and I’m constantly trying to find that shot for my team. I am patient and disciplined to execute any offensive set under any defensive pressure, and I see myself as an extension of the coach on the floor. I am also defensively strong, and I am accustomed to high pressure full court defense, as well as half court man-to-man and zone sets.
My story is unique. I've been up a grade since I started school, so I am actually a year (in some cases two years) younger than other members of the Class of 2015. Regardless of what some might perceive as an age disadvantage, I have decided to stay in my grade and compete, and I have achieved many accomplishments. I was the starting point guard at Cincinnati Country Day during my freshman and sophomore years and led the team in scoring and assists both years. Although I had to sit out the first half of my Junior season at Walnut Hills due to my transfer, when I was eligible to play I came on as the starting point guard. I finished the season as one of our top leaders in scoring, assists, and steals. I have also excelled in the classroom, having earned a cumulative 3.38 GPA while taking honors math and science courses. My specific accomplishments include:
2012 Miami Valley All Conference – Honorable Mention
2012 All District 16 – Div. IV First Team (only Freshman to make All District)
2012 Cincinnati Enquirer All Stars – Div. II-IV Honorable Mention
2012 Averaged 12.1 points, 2.9 assists, and 2.0 steals
2013 Miami Valley All Conference – First Team
2013 All District 16 – First Team
2013 Associated Press Southwest District Div. IV – Second Team
2013 Associated Press All Ohio – Honorable Mention
2013 Cincinnati Enquirer All Stars – Div. II-IV First Team
2013 Averaged 12.5 points, 4.2 assists, 3.8 steals (led conf. in assists and steals)
2014 All Conference - Honorable Mention
2014 Eastern Cincinnati Conference - Scholar Athlete Award (Maintaining 3.5 GPA or better)
2014 Walnut Hills Eagles Award
In addition to high school, I have also had success playing competitive AAU/select basketball. I have led my teams to top 10 placements seven times at AAU Division I Nationals, including two National Championships. This Summer, I am playing with the King James Shooting Stars 17U. We are playing in the Nike EYBL this Spring and Summer (Sacramento, Dallas, Virginia Beach, and Minneapolis) and will be playing in the Nike Peach Jam in Georgia in July and the AAU Super Showcase in Louisville, Kentucky.
My AAU coach for the past 8 years has been Coach Leon Ellison (513-693-7536; [email protected]). My high school varsity coach is Coach Ricardo Hill (513-237-0604; [email protected]). And for the past 9 years, I have trained with Sherwin Anderson. (513-602-7827). I’m sure they would all vouch for my skill level, work ethic, and leadership.
If you are a college coach or scout who is interested in knowing more about me, please review my profile and feel free to contact me by phone, email, or letter. I would love to know more about your school and basketball team. Thank you for your time and consideration.
