I started playing recreational league basketball when I was five years old and basketball quickly became my favorite sport. After a couple years of recreational basketball, I started playing travel basketball, then middle school basketball. My dedication to the sport lead me to be invited to play with the high school varsity this summer during team camp. I was always shorter than many of my peers, but I worked very hard to take my game to the next level. I have learned that I can push myself to levels that I didn’t think were possible. My love of competition, along with my basketball IQ, floor vison, and on and off the ball defense has helped me make up the height difference.
I am very good in the classroom. I want to continue to take honor classes and I want to graduate in the top 5% of my class. Then, I want to go to college, get my degree, and have a GPA above 3.5. I believe that I not only have the talent to play for a college team, but I also possess the leadership skills to be a team leader on and off the court. Basketball has taught me that with hard work, I can do anything that I set out to do.
