My goals and aspirations are to play College Basketball while earning a degree in Health/Physical Education, Biblical Studies or Sports Management. I am a leader on and off the court. I always try to be a great example and role model. I was selected to be a part of Athletes Helping Athletes. Only 15 student Athletes from each High School are selected to be trained and mentor elementary school children on making positive life choices. I go to the schools and speak and just recently conducted a physical education class for the 5th grade class. My High School Coaches made me a Captain in 10th grade because of my character, great grades, good attitude, hard work ethic and my willingness to help my teammates and community. I love helping people and even was involved with Wings Over Haiti. I have been sponsoring a child in Haiti through the Compassion Organization. Last year I started volunteering at The Boys and Girls Club. I am enjoying helping the children with homework, activities and sports. I also volunteer and help coach youth basketball camps several times a year. This year I was asked to be the head coach of a 7th and 8th grade youth boys basketball team, The Little Warriors. It is so great working with my team and being a positive influence in their lives.
I have been playing basketball since first grade. I have played AAU basketball since 7th grade. My AAU team The Long Island Wolves won the AAU NY Metropolitan Championship in 2016. We qualified to go to the AAU 2016 Nationals. It was held in Hampton, Virginia. Last year my AAU team won the Super Regionals in CT and we qualified to go to the AAU Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky. It was such an honor and a privilege to be able to play in the National tournament 2 years in a row, and to be there with my coach, Chuck Taber, my teammates and my family. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget.
Academically, I have been on the Honor Roll. Last year I was inducted into the National English Honor Society. and I received 7 awards for, Highest average in Astronomy, Government and Genocide and Intermediate Math, Outstanding Effort in English, U.S.History, Chemistry and Physical Education. I also received my Varsity Letter in Basketball and a pin for being a Scholar Athlete. I Received two awards in 10th grade, an English Award for the highest average in my 10th grade class with a 100 average for the year and I also received a 100 average in Living Environment for the year. Another award I received was for Outstanding Effort in English.
It takes great discipline to be a student athlete. You need to have a balance so that you have time for studying, homework and practice. I have shown that I can handle both academics, AAU Basketball and High School Basketball. My High School Academic and Sports career are preparing me for College Academics as well as College Basketball.
Thank you for your time and consideration.
