Personal Statement

I am a 6’3" point guard from Bosque School, NM.  I will be a sophomore next season.  I have been the starting point guard on Bosque School’s Varsity team since the eighth grade. I earned an All-District team award as an eighth grader and once again as a ninth grader.  I play basketball for my club team, D1 Nation NM, and we play in the Adidas Gauntlet.  I broke my hand this year and watching from the sidelines gave me a new perspective on how the basketball game works and helped me understand what my coaches are looking for when I’m on the court.  Sitting on the bench helped me see the open spots on the court and gave me a better understanding of the game.

As a young player more exposure to higher level basketball skills camps and showcases will improve my basketball skills, both mentally and physically, as well as help accomplish my goal of making it to the highest level of play I can.  I love to be the first person in the gym and the last one out, often staying to help the younger players on my team improve their game and learn the work ethic required to achieve their goals individually and our goals as a team.

I am looking for an academically strong school that will allow for a balance between class and court.  I would like to attend a college with strong Language and Marine Biology programs.   Sacrificing things for basketball is important but it is also important to me to balance basketball and my education.  I’ve missed many family, schools, and personal events because of my dedication to basketball which has helped me get where I am now.  I want to get better and continue growing athletically.

As a point guard who is also capable of playing multiple positions on the court, I believe I have the potential to go far and make a strong impact on any team I have the opportunity to play for.  I am always ready to learn and am determined to get to the next level.

  • Our camp has become one of the must stop events in July for college level prospects. The camp will be staffed by college coaches at the sub D1 level ensuring that each player receives top notch evaluation. This year we have included a highlight video in the tuition cost of the camp. It does not matter which AAU team you play for, this is an opportunity to get in front of a large number of coaches. It's especially useful for 15U and 16U players whose teams are not likely to have college coaches watching their teams. And for the 17U player, it gives the coaches a sneak peak and if you attract their attention then they are much more likely to follow you during the Great American Shootout.

  • Elijah Davidson a 6'1 140 lb 2020 prospect of Bosque School (NM), is a nice player with college potential.Elijah has great size position and should continue to take advantage of that in addition to possessing length that is a reliable asset to individual and team defense. The prospect showed great handle, and is able to put great pressure on the defense. Elijah really sees the floor at a high level in terms of passing the ball. We would like to see continued work passing with either hand and c reating misdirection to the defense. The Player shoots the ball with a high level of consistency with time and space. We recommend making at least 500 game speed shots a day in a variety of circumstances from all three levels (floaters, mid range, three both off the screens and off the bounce.Elijah has a very good shot selection and does a solid job of knowing what shots are in space and in rhythm. College coaches will be happy with this prospects selection. The prospect does a great job of f inishing at the rim through contact and size. The prospect defends the ball and help side very effectively proving to be a very good asset defensively. The talent is very strong for year and size and should continue to get stronger to really develop their body for the next level going against fully developed opponentsand has a great frame to really build on.Elijah has a great motor, changes ends of the floor well translating to collegeand is incredibly tough that all levels of coaches will cov et. The talented player is an exceptional athlete proving to be an advantage on both ends of the floor having athleticism that is in the upper quartile of hoopers. Elijah understands the nuances of the game and has a high basketball IQ that allows playing above their current level. Defensively we would like to see continued improvement both on and off the ball in addition to always seeing ball and man. We would emphasize staying lower on both ends of the court. In addition, we would like you t o continue learning how to play without the ball as most players only have the ball a max of 10% of the game (even less if you have ball stoppers on your team). We are excited to monitor this prospect's development in the future and would like to see continued development in all areas we rated as needing improvement to fully maximize potential. ScoutsFocus and our college coaching staff believes Elijah has college potential with continued hard work and development both in the classroom and on th e hardwood. Can play the 1. AAU Team: D1 New Mexico. Attended ScoutsFocus Elite 80 PHOENIX Camp on April 1-2, 2017.
  • Camp/Event
  • New Mexico D1 Ambassadors First Annual Player Rankings Showcase
  • 10/02/16 to 10/02/16
  • Elijah Davidson—Super long, active player with a smooth pull-up jumper. Tenacious on the glass at both ends of the floor.

Training

  • I have trained on an off with The athlete's Playground in Albuquerque for several years. However, I am now starting a more consistent program with them focused on increasing muscle mass, strength, speed and quickness.
