One of the most important qualities of a good leader is leading by example, to be a role model, to be the kind of person that everyone else looks up to and wants to be like. Athletes are given a great opportunity to play a vital role in leading the school in a positive direction. I have learned that being a leader means people are always watching you and want to be like you. Being a leader requires you to act in the highest manner at all times and to do what is right and not what feels right. Character is how you act when no one is watching. I believe that leaders should be a very positive person, which to me means leaving people in a better state of mind than before. I think that we as leaders should strive to have our parents, teachers, peers, and community proud to say “he’s one of ours”. Being a leader is a privilege and I know that by me displaying these qualities before my peers I will inspire them to change for the better.
“Don’t quit. Suffer now and live the rest of your life as a champion.”
