Hello everyone. I'm Carsten Sasse, and I'm currently a freshman at Burnsville High School in Burnsville, MN. I hope you enjoy my profile page and find it to be useful. I am excited to tell you more about me. Please let me know if you have any questions. The main sport I'm interested in is basketball, and I played on Burnsville's 9A team this past season. With our offense, we usually would run a lot of motion-type plays in which I would be responsible for setting screens for other players and making various cuts to the basket. However, whenever we ran a more traditional set offense, my main positions were either center and forward. With my height and long arms, my coaches used me inside on defense, and I learned (and am still learning) to be affective at changing the opponent's shot, boxing out strong, and getting the rebounds. I grew 6 inches between the fall of 2015 and the fall of 2016, and I'm learning and gaining more confidence to use my size to be a good defender. I'm also continuing to develop my inside moves on offensive and becoming more confident in my size to create shooting opportunities. I like to think of my self as a very aggressive player and hustle all of the time. As an example, I really strive to be the first one back on defense and continue to help the team whenever and wherever it's needed.
A couple of key characteristics I have are being humble and content. I don't need to have the glory, am not obsessed with playing time, and will do whatever my coaches ask of me. I'm happy doing whatever it takes to help the team have success, which doesn't have to be all about wins and losses, but helping my teammates grow and have a positive experience playing basketball. I like to work hard and do the little things well such as working hard on the press, diving for loose balls, setting tough screens, and making the extra pass whenever possible. I also trust my coaches to put me in the best situations to help the team succeed and am not one to complain about whatever role they put me in. With the game of basketball, there are many highs and low and difficult situations - so being content has helped me stay the course and constantly find ways to improve myself both mentally and physically.
Besides basketball, I spend a lot of time lifting weights and am taking strength and conditioning classes. I also was on the cross country team in the fall of 2016. All of the running during cross country has helped with my endurance during basketball games. Regarding academics, so far I have taken engineering-type courses. I have enjoyed those courses and will probably continue taking similar courses in the years to come.
Thank you for looking at my profile, and I appreciate your consideration. Enjoy the rest of your day! :)
