Personal Statement
I am a 6’4”, 160 lb wing shooting guard. I attend Robichaud Senior High School. Going into my senior year, I am expecting to have a big break out season. I am one of those “under-the-radar” players with a huge upside. With 9 seniors graduating from last years championship squad, I will lead my team to a State Championship run this year.
This off season my motto has been, “No Days Off”, and I have really stuck to it. Some kids say that every day, but don’t mean it or aren’t willing to put in the work. I put 120% effort into what I do and am serious about it. I have a regular weight lifting and shooting workout plan that I complete every day. I am in the gym every day before school at 5:30 am getting up shots, hitting the weights, and working on my skills. I make at least 300 shots a day. I can shoot from anywhere on the court: in the paint, mid-range, and from the three. I am an all-around guard/small forward who can create plays with and without the ball: rebounding, scoring, and playing defense are my specialties. I can drive the lane and get to the basket, creating opportunities for myself and my teammates.
I am an impressive leader and student athlete on and off the court. My teammates have voted me team captain; they look up to me and expect me to lead our team this year. I am a positive role model on and off the court, setting the example and standard for the team. I work part time to pay for my phone and keep gas in my car; I stay out of trouble and get things done academically. I am dual enrolled in an algebra class at my local community college. I have a 3.0 overall GPA and have scored an 18 on the ACT. I have taken the ACT again this past October 26th. I have prepared all summer to score a 24 or higher on this opportunity.
I know I can play on the Division 1 level and make a difference on any team, but I am open to all opportunities. I will do whatever it takes to win and continue to make myself and my team better everyday. I play shooting guard, but if my team needs me to play another position for us to win, I will. I am looking for a college that will help develop my full potential as a student and an athlete. I want to feel comfortable at the school I choose to go to. It is important to me to have a positive relationship with my coaches and teammates. I realize that the decision I make now will guide and shape my future for years to come.
