Matt Smietanski – 6’1’’ Point Guard/Two Guard, Lockport High School, Illinois – Class 2017
Collegiate Goals:
My goal is to continue my education at an outstanding university while continuing to play the game of basketball, the game I love. My education is the foundation for my future success; therefore, I hope to attend a university that will afford me the opportunities to grow academically and athletically.
Basketball:
I am a 6’1” 175 LB point guard/two guard (All Conference Junior Year) that plays hard every game and leads by example. I shoot right handed and have been playing basketball my entire life. I know how to run an offense and take pride in being a coach on the court. I have a love for playing defense and enjoy matching up with the opponent’s best guard/small forward. I have a strong ability to penetrate, finish, and distribute.
I am the consummate team player and leader and will do whatever the coach asks of me in order for my team to succeed. If the coach needs me to score 20 points, I will. If I need to distribute the ball and not score, I will. I am not interest in stats, only interested in playing hard and doing what’s asked of me to win.
I have been told I play bigger than my 6’1” frame. I am a tenacious rebounder and a quick jumper. I’ve led my team in rebounding on many occasions, as well as in points scored and assists.
Attributes: Team Leader, Unselfish, Coach on the Court, Tenacious Defender, Very Good Penetrator, and a Complete Game Player (dribble, shoot, pass, rebound, score and defend).
Academics and Character:
Currently, I have a GPA of 3.5 on a scale of 4.0 and rank in the (Top 20%) at Lockport High School, Illinois.
I am actively involved with the school’s “Special Needs” program and serve as an ACES TEAM LEADER. This programs is a Leadership program for a few students to lead the special needs students during their P.E. class. It is an honor to be selected to this program.
I am also active in our schools “Best Buddy” program. It is an after school program dedicated to serving the needs of the many students with developmental disabilities (Autism, Down syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, etc.)
If you are looking for a team leading, hardworking, tough-nosed, point guard/two guard that can shoot, penetrate, defend and rebound, I ask for your consideration.
Thank you,
Matt Smietanski
