Hi, my name is Bakari Copeland and I would like to thank you for taking time out of your day to view my personal statement. I am a 6' 5", 205 lb Senior attending Arabia Mountain high school. I have been attending this school for my entire high school career.
I am a natural leader and I am a very aggressive player on the court. I am very comfortable leading a team and like to get my teammates involved. I am a very good scorer who can score in different ways, but my main strength is shooting the 3 point shot. I am a very good defender who knows how to get into any players head on defense when needed. All of my past coaches have told me that I am a very coachable kid, who doesn’t mind taking constructive criticism and takes instruction without a problem because I understand that they can help me become a better player and I also understand that without them I can’t get to the next level, which is my goal.

My daily schedule during a school week is, to wake up at 5:00 every morning for basketball practice at 6:00a.m. I am always the first person to the gym at 5:30 a.m. I often get to practice before the coach. After school, I am usually in tutorial class which ends at about 4:30 p.m. I then come home to take a nap and then at 7:00 p.m. I am back on the court working on my body and my game for about 2 hours. I am always doing what I can to get better on the court and off the court. I work very hard in the classroom night in and night out, because I attend one of the top ranked academic schools in the county. I work hard every day on and off the court because I want to live my dream which is to play college basketball. Other than basketball I am a good kid who stays away from the wrong crowd because I know that those are simple things that could determine what type of person I become to be in the future and I want to be the best person I can possibly be; I don’t want to be the type of person who could have been something special but lost it because of being in the wrong predicaments.
