  • ActivitiesSan Antonio Academy, San Antonio, Texas 2001 to 2010 I was a member of the Academy’s Young Astronauts program since kindergarten. I was chosen to participate in the MATHCOUNTS elective in the seventh and eighth grades because of my performance in math, including scores on standardized math exams. People to People Student Ambassador 2007 and 2008 I traveled to Western Canada in 2007 with student delegations from San Antonio and Omaha. In 2008 I traveled to England and Scotland with student delegations from San Antonio, Maryland and California. Junior National Young Leaders Conference 2007 and 2008 I was selected by my 5th grade teacher to participate in the 2007 Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Washington, D.C. I joined middle school students from around the country for a week of leadership training. In 2008 I traveled to the Junior National Young Leaders Conference in Boston, MA. I was invited to attend the National Young Leaders State Conference in Texas in 2010. Junior Presidential Youth Inaugural Conference 2009 I was selected from among students across the nation to attend this five-day conference in Washington, D.C., which included attending lectures by national leaders and the presidential inauguration. City Year Young Heroes Program 2009 I earned 100 hours of community service through participation in various community service projects throughout San Antonio. I also gave the opening address during the National Global Youth Service Day celebration in the city. The Hotchkiss School Ecuador Education and Service Trip 2012 I traveled with a select group of Hotchkiss students to Ecuador for 14 days in June 2012. I performed service projects in the Amazon and Galapagos Islands. I also stayed with host families, and had the privilege of being one of the last humans to see the famous Pinta Island tortoise Lonesome George before his death. Each One Teach One Adult and Family Literacy Program 2012 I provide one on one tutoring in reading and math to adult learners who perform below eighth grade level or who are studying to pass the GED exam. Under The Bridge Ministries 2006 to present I serve food to disadvantaged people on Saturday mornings during holiday and summer breaks from Hotchkiss.
