My name is Charlie Reznikoff and I am the starting SF and Captain of The Marvelwood School's Varsity squad in Kent, CT (Prep School.) At 6'4" 175lbs (with room to grow) I start out playing the 3 yet have the ability to post up on the block or play the point forward as well.
Last year my stats were :
19.6 PPG (4th in New England class D PS)
12.4 RBG (tied for 2nd )
3.9 SPG (9th)
I was named to Second Team All New England PS, 1st Team Defense HVAL Conference
I also lead the conference in FTA and MPG
Captain of team that won "The Logan Award" voted by all refs in New England expressing love and repsect for the game and opponents.
Academically I am doing very well too.
But my extra curricular activities are what I am most proud of. My primary focus has been my involvement as a lead ambassador in an organization I'm very passionate about, Full Court Peace http://www.fullcourtpeace.org
The organization promotes conflict resolution through basketball in troubled regions of the world as well as providing a platform for socially diverse groups to interact on an even footing. For example, I visited Jaurez Mexico, the murder capital of the world, to refurbish neighborhood basketball courts in an effort to pull kids away from a gang life. I also just got back from Cuba, where we did the same thing with the courts but unlike in Juarez, our mission was to create a bond with a country that is blockaded buy our own.
Basketball is a very part of my essence, that is why I put the all I have on the court. Even though I have moved around a lot throughout my High School career, I have always found a way to achieve the next level in my basketball game. I finish very consistently at the rim and I am working hard to improve from three point land as well. I have always considered myself a good disher, and team player [Jason Kidd's playing style has been a big influence; I always look for the extra pass]. Last year my playing varsity soccer has improved my basketball game in several areas, but mostly footwork on the drive. This year I will be captain, its not basketball but there is a ball and a net!
My short term goal is to win a NEPSAC Divison D championship and banner! I get uneasy when I see banners of "Semifinalists" or "Finalists" held up in gyms. This would seem to shout they are not the best. Although this will be quite a challenge over the next few years, I am up to the task. Team work is very important to me. I have seen the fruit of this bond most prophetically played out with my involvement with various charities. My favorite "Full Court Peace" has showed me how working together can bridge incredible cultural barriers through basketball.
I feel my passion for the game of basketball can bring me to the collegiate level. I will be willing to work hard and with dedication. I never quit!
I will be making leaps in bounds in order to play College basketball program, and make that program the best they can be!
