Hi my name is Forrest Paxton and I am a prospective college athlete. I have always aspired to play college basketball and I believe I have the means to do so. I am a 6 foot 7 senior at Pioneer High and I am the leading scorer averaging 14.9 points per game alongside 7.1 rebounds. Being a team captain this year has granted me more responsibility than previous years and I believe I have stepped up to the task. I co-ran our pre-season conditioning program and was responsible for getting my teammates in the gym and practicing. I believe this role has enabled me well for college basketball because it has made me make a major time commitment to basketball which is what I will need to do in college. I am aware of the time commitment college basketball requires and I am willing to fully dedicate myself to that commitment as I know it will make me a better basketball player.
As my previous basketball encounters will show, I have always been dedicated to the sport and the team on which I play. I was exposed to competitive basketball early as I started AAU during my fifth grade year. Even at such an early age I was committing up to eight hours a week to basketball. I always loved basketball and I knew that in order to get better I needed to play. Throughout the course of my AAU basketball career I have been in a large variety of tournaments. Prominent among them were several showcase tournaments including the Adidas Super 64 this summer, and the Reno Memorial Day invitational two years ago (which we took third place in). My extensive exposure to basketball I believe has readied me to play college basketball.
Next year it is my desire to play at the collegiate level. I believe that it is reasonable that I play anywhere from junior college level to a NCAA division II. I believe I have the skill set, the drive, and the focus to be successful at these levels of competition. I am open to any variety of school as I hope to find the right match for me. As of now I am undecided in which major to pursue but I am contemplating one that keeps me involved in sports such as physical therapy or sports management. However these are not prerequisites for my decision as I have said I am primarily undecided. Thank you for your time and for your consideration. I hope I will be playing on a team next year that I will be able to make an impact on and apply my hard work ethic.
