My dreams and aspirations is to be successful on and off the court. I earned 3 Lettermans: 1 for basketball on varsity for 3 years, 1 for football on varsity for 2 years and 1 for track and field. I maintained being on two varsity sports and taking college class at Chabot College from 2009 to 2012: From 9th grade until I completed High School 2012 when I entered Chabot College full time. I obtained a academic scholarship and maintained a 3.0. My high school varsity basketball coach has this to say about my goals and aspirations:

I am writing this letter on behalf of Jalan Rogers. My name is Craig Ashmore and I am the Boy’s Varsity Coach at Newark Memorial High School in Newark Unified School District. I have only known **Jalan for one year, but in that time, he has made a significant impact on our program, his teammates, and the greater school community.***
Jalan came to Newark Memorial High School during the summer of 2011. It was immediately apparent that his transition into a new program would be mutually beneficial. ***(Jalan worked hard from the onset to learn what most players take four years to embody. He never questioned his role on the team even at the sacrifice of his own individual statistics.)******
Jalan is extremely coachable. He listens, responds, incorporates, and refines his mental and physical abilities as he contributes to the overall program. ****He is competitive, but balances that with a smile on his face and the determination of a highly skilled athlete.*****
Our 2011-2012 season would not have been as accomplished on and off the court without Jalan on the team. He was the “X Factor.” He did all the little things that often go unnoticed but are major contributions to a winning program. He was most successful in games that were high stakes. His ability to stay calm and perform at his highest level was imperative and served as one of the main reasons for our program’s success this year.
Equally as important to Jalan as his athletic prowess is his education. He is a successful student with strong study habits. It is clear to his teachers that he holds his education in high regard and will go on to do great things in his post graduate career.
******I hold a great deal of respect for Jalan Rogers and believe whole heartedly that he will continue to be a positive role model and contributor to any school*****. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me. I can be reached at 510-818-4355.
Sincerely,
Craig Ashmore
