My name is Bobby Talamantes and I am a senior at Montclair High School. I’m a 5’10”, 170 lbs combo guard. I play the point guard position and the 2/shooting guard position. I can play both positions extremely well due to my ball handling abilities. I have the ability to break down any defense and set up my teammates for easy opportunities. My scoring abilities consist of me being a prolific 3-point shooter with unlimited range, but can also create for myself and attack the basket at will. I can take over a game at any point whether it’s me assisting my teammates or scoring the ball.
My skills allow me to shine on offense, but as a competitor I pride myself on defense and for my size I am an extremely solid defender. Whenever I’m on the court I always play each game as if it’s my last and will take on any role that is necessary in order for my team to be successful.
I started playing basketball at the age of 5 and haven’t stopped playing since. I have 12 years of organized basketball experience. Over the years I have played on numerous teams on different levels and have always stood out because of my abilities. I’ve always been the top player on my team and have worked very hard at honing my skills. Throughout my basketball career I have always managed to become captain of my team, not only because of my skills, but also because of my ability to lead my team. I’ve always taken on the responsibility to motivate my team and lead by example.
When it comes to my high school basketball career, I have made captain for my Freshman, JV and Varsity teams. My first year on varsity was during my junior year. I was made a starter and that’s when we set the record for the most games won in Montclair History. We also made it to the 3rd round of the CIF Playoffs, which has also been the furthest that Montclair has ever gone. During my junior year I received numerous awards. I was named MVP of the Atascadero Tournament, MVP of my team, made 1st Team All League and 2nd Team All CIF.
I averaged 15.2 pts in only 21.5 minutes of playing time. I had several games of 23 points or more with my season high being 28 points. My role as a scorer always depended on what my team needed from me each game. I shot nearly 40% from 3 point range and 80% from the free throw line. I was the top 3 point and free throw shooter and just about tied for top scorer on the team by less than ½ a point.
This year as a senior I expect to have an outstanding season and make it deeper into the playoffs. I also hope to get accepted into a 4-year University where I can get a great education and have the opportunity to play college basketball. I’m going to continue improving on my skills offensively and defensively because there’s always room for improvement. I plan on continuing to work hard until I meet my goals.NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the exclusive athletic recruiting network that educates, assists, and connects, families, coaches and companies so they can save time and money, get ahead and give back.
