Myles Houston '14 Recruiting Profile

As a hardworking 6’0” and 175 lb senior, I am a quick and athletic guard who goes hard on every possession. As a 17 year old, I have plenty of potential of developing as a player and I'm coachable. I also have the capability of making everyone I’m on the floor with better by being a high energy player and motivator. I sacrifice for the team when I am required to do so.
 
My high school career was spent at Jurupa Hills High School. While I'm naturally a wing player, I was challenged with the task of playing against power forwards taller and heavier than me and I rose to the occasion. I'm not a selfish player and I'm willing to put my team’s needs before my own, so whenever I was given the assignment to play in the paint I stepped up to the plate. Although I was not always given the opportunity to showcase my skills and talent, when I was able to get on the floor, the dynamic of the game shifted. My previous coach did not allow me the opportunity to showcase my all around game, but it has strengthened me mentally and I know not to leave any wasted opportunities on the floor, and to play my absolute best with every possession.
                    
My biggest strengths are my defensive ability, hustle, and the energy I bring to the floor; I am also capable of getting my teammates involved and create opportunities for them.
 
I grew up in a home with a Christian foundation and my faith and Christian values will be with me where ever I go. Outside of basketball, I'm involved in the Blu Educational Foundation and Youth Build where I give my time back to the community. I also attended an E.F. Educational Tour in Europe my freshman year of high school for obtaining a 4.0 GPA my previous year. This invaluable experience and being away from home helped me to grow as a person and I was able to see how other people around the world lived. This also prepared me to be able to leave home and go to college where ever I can receive the best opportunity to continue my passion of playing basketball and obtaining a degree in Psychology.
