I have been playing basketball my whole life and it is now a lifestyle for me since I love the game so much. I've been through obstacles in my life like getting cut from my middle school team and not being what coaches wanted physically. However, these type of things drive me to become the best player I can be as well as give me motivation to accomplish my goals. When I was in middle school, I was cut from the basketball team and I didn't know why. It was an obstacle I had to face because it made me think that I wasn't good enough to play. On the other hand, this gave me motivation to get better and ever since that day I work my butt off so I can become the best I can be. It was good for me that these hardships came in my life because I wouldn't be the player I am today. This makes me different from the others that want to be recruited because I will try my best and will always find a way to get better and not be lazy or even give up on something difficult. With motivation, I feel like I can accomplish anything which I can since my mind is different from others.
In order for me to play basketball, I always have to keep my grades up in order for me to get on the court. My academics are important to me and the time and work I put in basketball is the same as how much I put in school. Even though my coaches say I need to be above a 2.0, I strive to aim for a 3.5 or higher so I can be challenged. Through my whole life, I've gotten above a 3.0 because I want to work for it. Academically, my grades are better in basketball season than they are when the season isn't in. From hard long practices or even games, I still try to get my homework and studies done because I want to do better than what is expected for me.
