My name is Tommy Schmitzer and I aspire to play football at one of our nation's top academic institutions. Currently, I am a sophomore at Catholic Memorial High School -- one of Wisconsin's best college preparatory schools and most consistent football programs. As a freshman, I suited up for all fourteen games during CMH's state championship season, gaining valuable experience on the offensive scout team and seeing action in several varsity games. That spring, I earned my varsity letter in track and field while competing primarily in the 200 and 400 meter dashes, various sprint relays and triple jump. As a sophomore, I saw significant playing time in ten varsity games. I was the first back-up to a 1,700 yard rusher. Although I would have liked more touches, I understand that team comes first. This role taught me the importance of patience and making the most of one's opportunities. As a sophomore, before being promoted to a varsity only player, I was honored to be elected captain of the junior varsity squad where I scored ten touchdowns in six games. This winter, I will dedicated myself to my studies and the weight room. In the spring, I will again compete in track.
Although athletics are important to me, my greatest strengths appear in the classroom where I carry a G.P.A. of over 4.2. I am strong in science and math, and hope to study medicine in college. I also enjoy history and literature. I read "Harry Potter" when I was five and have been an avid reader throughout my life. Between my studies and extracurricular activities, I work part-time in a hardware store. This job has strengthened my sense of team, communication and practical problem-solving skills. I believe these lessons will serve me well on the field and in my future career.
I am confident that I would be an asset to your college or university, both on and off the field. I have a strong work ethic and always strive to do things the right way. Please contact me to discuss what I can contribute to your football program, your school and our world. Thank you for your consideration.
