Hello My Name is Xavier Gipson. I have provided a little background story about me.
What details of your life have influenced who you are? I have to say my mother plays a big influence in my life in pushing me to become the young man I am today. How she motivate me when in the classroom and on the field. She want me to do my best and live my dream in becoming a professional football player. I see how she work hard working two jobs and taken care of me and through it all she received her Bachelor Degree and she is further her education to get her Master’s Degree. She have that enterprising person attitude do not quit until you reach your goal and I learn that from her.
When and how did you become interested in your sport? I started playing football at the age of four. I work hard throughout the years to improve myself on the field and learn from the best coaches coming up to improve my skills. I watch College and NFL football the person that plays my positions so I can study them and use what I learn from them to put it on the field.
What have you learned about yourself through playing your sport? I learn a lot from playing football how to improve my game by watching the players that plays my position. Then going out on my high school field and execute what I have learn. Then the camps I have attended I learn a lot from those coaches and the other kids that attend the camps I pick up some moves from them as well to improve my game and also teach some my moves to help them on their game as well.
What are your academic goals for high school? For college? I want to graduate from high school with high G.P.A and then go on to college with scholarship in academic and athletic. Then play football in college and get the college experience and then graduate from college with a Bachelor Degree in Business and then get minor in Sports Medicine.
Have you had to overcome any obstacles to get where you are? Yes I had to overcome a lot of obstacles coming up in life they had told my mother that I will always need speech therapy, never be able to play football due to my legs are bowed. My reading level is low I have beaten all odds against me I do not have to do speech therapy, My reading level are up and I am playing football and starter in high school, and when I go to football camps I am also a starter. They told my mom I would not go to college I just be happy to graduate high school. I am going to prove them wrong I am going to college and I am going to earn my degree. I want to make my mom proud she has work so hard to get me where I am today. She put in many hours for me to get to school and the proper training I need to be able to maintain my grades in my studies.
What unique characteristics or skills do you possess? I am that teammate that motivate the players and get the moral up. If I see them not playing their A game I go up to them and let them know. My team can do the same with me if I am not on my A game they can come and tell me and I correct what I am doing. I am the leader on the team I want everyone to put their A game on the field. I am the person that teach my Defensive line the moves and things I learn from the camps I attended or what I have seen on TV to help them improved in their game. I am that go to person that they come to for help or if the coach needs someone to go head to head I am going to be the one that stands up and say I will do it.
