From as early as the first grade, my parents signed me up to play soccer, but I knew that my true heart and desire was to play football. I loved watching the NFL, but especially the wide receivers work on their routes, and doing whatever it takes to catch the ball! I inspired to become like Larry Fitzgerald with my route running ability, and Calvin Johnson with his spot on catching skills.
I earned a starting position as a tight end and defensive end in middle school because of my size and ability to catch and run with the ball. I have played every position except offensive line. Playing the different positions helped me decide what position I really liked to play, which is wide receiver. I continued to work hard on my fundamentals as a wide receiver such as running, catching and my routes, because I wanted to push myself to become the best I could be.
I am currently a starting wide receiver for the varsity football team of Findlay Ohio, and have learned that you need to be a positive leader, dedicated, and hard working on and off the field, as well as in the class room. I learned that not everything will go as planned and how important it is to adapt to the situation. As a leader, it's important to have an open mind with a narrow focus, and be able to take constructive criticism as well as tips and advice from those in leadership over me.
I believe that it is important to do your best at whatever you put your mind and ability to, and strive to be as successful as you can be. I am a 3.4 GPA student, and am determined to improve that number daily by studying harder and turning in extra credit when available. School helps me with problem solving, and to think on my feet which transfers over to the field every Friday night.
Character is an important part of a person. People who know me, would describe me as an honest, funny, down to earth person, but as soon as it's practice and game time, I am a very focused, dedicated, competitive athlete. It is my responsibility, as well as the other players to build the team to the best we can be. I am in the weight room, at performance zone and at the stadium on my own time working on fundamentals as often as I can because there is always room for improvement. I always put in the extra effort when needed.
I am excited for what my future holds for me, and hope to take my love for football through college. I promise to give 100% and can assure you that you won't be disappointed.
