Personal Statement

My name is Jacob Smith, and I am currently a Senior (2017) Strong Safety, Outside Linebacker at Bolivar-Richburg Central School in Bolivar, New York.

The 2015-2016 football season at Bolivar-Richburg resulted in a great outcome.  The past 7 seasons ultimately resulted in losing records and many games that ended in great defeat.   The passion of the sport was gone in the community and students no longer wanted to play the game.  With a new coaching staff and some great leaders, the past season resulted in a much different outcome.  I helped lead the team to a 5-4 record along with a Connors and Ferris Bowl Game Championship.  The first winning record and post season championship in 7 years.

As a freshman I was moved up to the varsity team and started the last 4 games of the season, and ever since I have been a captain and starter on the team.  Over the past 3 seasons I have experienced and gained knowledge on the game of football; and how to be a true leader on and off the field.   The leadership skills I obtained are applied daily and are used in every day situations I face.   The knowledge I have gained from football has helped shape me into the person I am today.

In the classroom I have maintained a 3.8 GPA and am taking honors courses along with college courses offered by a local community college.  My academics are vital for my future and my college decision.  Academics come first and because of this I am proud to call myself a true student athlete.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
