Having started playing flag football at the age of four and transitioning to tackle football at age 8, starting at the varsity level in high school had been a goal of mine since I was very young. I was able to accomplish that goal starting at the varsity level as sophomore through dedication, determination and hard work. Although this was an important goal of mine, helping my team win a district title my junior year was my proudest and happiest moment. While our program has won conference championships and made it to the playoffs several times, it was the first time in our school history that our football program won a district title and made to the regional level of the playoffs. My goal this year is to help lead my team to win our conference and region, as well as making it to the state finals.
I experienced a bit of an epiphany the first day of weight training this summer as I realized that as a now three year varsity starter, I am now the guy that the underclassmen are looking to for leadership. This drives me all the more while in the weight room and position camps because I know that if I quit and allow myself to go half way, the younger guys will do the same.
I also learned the value of a strong work ethic as a pre-teen working on a hay farm, having earned my way to crew manager/supervisor. I am currently responsible for the hiring, training and safety of all members of my team. I believe my athletic, work and academic experiences have helped prepare me to be a strong and valuable asset to any team on which I may participate.
