Personal Statement

Hello, My name is Alex Miller and I am a student-athlete at Lake Zurich High School in Lake Zurich, IL. I have been fortunate to have played many sports in high school, and my goal is to play football at a competitive college academically and athletically.

The reasons I am a good candidate for your team are:

  • Work Ethic: Whether it is on the field or in the classroom, I am determined to do my best. My 4.3 GPA with an all Honors/AP load is an example of my academic work ethic. My inspiration to have a special focus on football came early on in high school when I was pulled up as a Freshman to the Varsity team for Playoffs and the State Championship where we ended 2nd in the State for 7A. While participating in the effort, I learned the dedication, focus and teamwork required to go on to State. After my Freshman season, I was asked to go to camp with the Varsity team and earned a starting position on Varsity as a Sophomore. On and off the field with my training, I give 100%.
  • Teamwork: Lake Zurich is a football school, and I appreciate the opportunity to play for this incredible program. Being a versatile athlete enabled me to play nine different positions during my Sophomore Season, and four different positions during my Junior Season in order to help fill gaps, provide strategy against the next opponent, and do whatever the team needed for each game. I have been a two-three sport athlete throughout high school and am fortunate to have developed incredible values throughout the process.
  • Leadership/Character: Leadership to me is about having a vision, and doing my best to inspire and help those around me to be motivated for success. I am one of the Team Captains, have been a Huddle Leader (football mentoring) for the past two years, earned a position as a two year Physical Education Leader for the PE class, as well as earned a position as a FAME Leader (Freshmen peer leader) during my Junior year. Success is determined not only by my own accomplishments, but by how I can help my peers be successful too. The whole program wins this way.

I am looking to study Business and be a strong member of whatever university I attend. A university with the vision, integrity, and the academic vigor to help pave the way for my future. Playing football for this type of university would be an honor and privilege that I would respect immensely.
