I am a junior and the starting center on our varsity football team. Our team came in second place in league this year. Last year as a sophomore, I was also the starting center on a varsity football team that went undefeated in league and had an overall record of 11-1. As a sophomore, I started and played all 12 games. This year, I was a transfer student. Once I was cleared by CIF to play, I became the starting center on our varsity team for the remaining 10 games of the season. In addition to being a center, I am also a long snapper for both punts and PAT/field goals. One of my strengths is my strength. I bench press 300 lbs., squat 450 lbs. and dead lift 405 lbs. I used my strength this past season to control my opponents both on pass and run plays. I will only continue to get bigger, stronger and faster over the next year. I would be a good candidate because I am hardworking, dedicated, and loyal to my team and teammates. I am committed to training my body year round and making sure my skills improve with each football season. I am an athlete. Not everyone can say that. Being an athlete means that you understand sacrifice and it means that you have chosen to live a different life from the average student at school. I believe I am different from other candidates because I bring character, leadership and morale to my teammates. I hope that on and off the field I am a positive example to those around me. I have received as much from football as I have put in. I have learned team commitment, time management, how to work well with others, and how to make sacrifices not only for myself, but for the team. I know there are two sides to the coin -- winning and losing; I have felt them both. I am a person who loves the taste of victory and it is what I strive for in all areas of my life.
My college goals include getting a degree in math or science and playing football all four years on a college team. I want to graduate college with honors and be recognized for both my athletic and academic achievements. At the end of my undergraduate career, I want to be accepted into medical school or a school for a professional degree.
Aside from football and school, I am very active in the community. I am a worship leader, I serve the homeless, I volunteer my time at church, and I plan and organize bi-weekly meetings for the FCA. As a sophomore and junior, I have been a leader of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) at my school. I was chosen for this position by the leadership team in my school. I want to continue to be a leader of the FCA during my college football career.
