Football has always been a part of my life and I have been playing since I was six years old. But, even before that, I can remember attending all my older brothers games on Saturday’s. For as long as I can remember I took every opportunity I could to be on the field, from practicing all week, to being ball boy under the Friday Night Lights, then to my games the following day on Saturdays. Football season is the time of year I look forward too and in the off season I am preparing myself every way I can by working out and going to camps to prepare and be the best player I can be. I am versatile on the field, being able to hold the positions of Fullback/Runningback, Defensive End and Linebacker. Along with football I have wrestled, played rugby, played baseball and basketball. But my heart has always been with football. Since I first understood the game, playing college football has been a dream and goal. I know that playing in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity that could change my whole life and the future of my family.
I want to go as far as I can go. Just plain and simple, the sky is the limit. It is the reason I train so hard and devote my time to football and making myself better at the sport I love. I am always working to improve my game skills as well as training to get bigger, faster and stronger. I take pride in preparing myself on the mental side of football by breaking down game film of opponents and also my own. Outside of learning the game, football has taught me about what it means to be a leader and being part of a team. I have been team captain and take this position very seriously. I strive to be someone that my team mates can look up to and that my coaches can always lean on by illustrating sportsmanship and hard work. I have realized that my most powerful leadership tool is my own personal example. I am very coachable and strive to be one of the hardest working players and one of the hardest working recruits you’ll find.
The other priority in my life is my education. I have maintained a 4.0 by staying focused on my studies. In the classroom environment, I pride myself in being the ultimate example for other students through good behavior. I know that being the best I can be on the field is not good enough, I need to put the same amount of effort in the classroom. Being able to be a student athlete in college would be a great privilege.
The community that I have grown up in is very important to me. Because of the community that I live in, I have been given the opportunity to participate in a football program. Through my church I have been able to get involved and help those who are less fortunate then I am. For example, making goodie bags and handing them out to the homeless. This has brought me great joy to give someone something that is taken for granted daily.
I want to attend a college that will challenge me academically as well as athletically. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I know that I can be a great asset to a team as a player and as a team mate. I hope to become a great role model to all my peers and make my parents proud.
