Personal Statement

Work hard, study hard, and play hard is my motto! I love sports, and spending time friends, but know it is important to put academics first. I'm a sophomore in the Leadership and International Relations Specialty Center at James River High School in Midlothian, VA.  I take my grades seriously, I challenge myself, and when I commit to something I always follow through.

I fell in love with field hockey in elementary school.  As an eighth grader, I was a starter and team captain for my high schools’  JV Team.  I was a Varsity Starter my freshman year and was named All Conference-Second Team. This past season I left my comfort zone as midfielder/forward and have helped rebuild my team's defensive line after the loss of three starting seniors. I was named Team MVP, First Team All District, and First Team All Region. I play club year round with Richmond Panthers.

My goal is to play field hockey at a school that challenges me academically, and provides me opportunity to play the sport I love. I stand out among other recruits because I have both the grades and the drive to be my best.  As a leadership student I am learning valuable skills that will make me an asset to your team.  Coaches need strong leaders who encourage and bring out the best in others to help the team achieve success as a whole.

I am a top candidate for your school because I am coach-able. I welcome constructive criticism and always strive to improve my game.  I live by my club coaches words - "Practice till you get it right, then keep practicing till you can't get it wrong." I am attending camps, clinics, and playing in showcases as often as possible to better my skills. I am honest,  hardworking, and committed to being a team player and leader on the field.  I treasure the bonds and friendships I have made because of field hockey, and I look forward to being part of a "field hockey family" in college!

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
