My name is Amelie Fieser and I am a midfielder/defender from Ashburn, VA. I fell in love with field hockey in pre-school in Germany! Field hockey is very popular there and I was fortunate to have my parents sign me up to play at HC Bad Homburg at the age of 5. I played in local indoor and outdoor tournaments in Germany until moving to the United States in 2012. I started playing club hockey in Virginia and attended my first national tournament as a U12 player.
Since then I have grown and strengthened my field hockey game by becoming a starting player with the Metro HC elite field hockey club. With Metro HC, I have contributed to winning national events and including recently winning the A pool at The National Hockey Festival Tournament. Two years ago, field hockey was finally added as a varsity high school sport in Loudoun County. It was very exciting to be a part of Riverside High School's varsity field hockey inaugural team. This year we had a great season finishing 14-4 and making it to the regional semifinals. Also, I was honored to be selected for the All-region second team and as Riverside's MVP. In addition, I am a varsity runner for the Riverside Track and Field team. Making it to the state competition as a freshman in the 4 x 400 M relay was an amazing accomplishment. Field hockey in my main sport, but competing successfully in a second sport has helped my overall conditioning, speed and focus.
I avidly follow college field hockey and try to watch as many games as possible. It is my dream to play for a competitive college field hockey team one day. Academics are just as important to me as a school’s field hockey program. I have a 4.31 GPA and am very interested in STEM. I would like to major in Biology and pursue a career in genetic research.
