Personal Statement

I am a three-sport student-athlete: I play for the love of competition, as well as the team camaraderie that is formed. I have participated in sports or some athletic activity for my whole life.  As a child I equally enjoyed skiing, and playing basketball and lacrosse.  However, in middle school I fell in love with a new sport. This new sport was field hockey, and I have loved every practice, clinic, camp, or game. I enjoy all aspects of the game, especially the rigorous running, passing, and scoring. As a freshman, I made varsity and enjoyed the season in its entirety. During playoffs, I scored the second goal for my team that put us up 2-1 in the quarterfinal. Unfortunately, after the other team scored off a corner with no time left, we lost in overtime. Since this game, my drive to win only increased. During my sophomore season I helped lead my team to win the Division 1 Field Hockey State Championship. In my junior season I helped lead my team to a 16-1 record and repeat as VT Division 1 State Champions. During my junior season I accumulated 10 goals and 14 assists. I also compete with the Element Athletics field hockey club team which enables me to participate at a higher level and go to events such as the Shooting Star tournament. This has helped me gain a better sense of concept play.

I am a coachable athlete that takes directions well and implements those instructions into my game play. My hard work and determination has also helped me reach success in basketball and lacrosse. As a freshman, I played varsity basketball and varsity lacrosse. Just this year as a junior I was elected Captain of my basketball team which has helped me improve upon my leadership skills and abilities. I believe playing two other varsity sports has helped me improve not only with field hockey, but also my academic time management. I have always received high honors since middle school as I enjoy challenging myself academically. My current GPA of my freshman and sophomore year at high school is a 4.137 (out of 4.3). I want a school that not only fits my personality, but also my needs academically and athletically. I believe I have the desire, work ethic, academics, and drive to compete at the college level.
