I was first introduced to field hockey in 6th grade. My whole life I had played soccer, softball and volleyball so I figured why not try something new. I fell in love right away and my passion only grows stronger as the years go by. Something that I feel has helped me get to where I am as a player is that I have always been the youngest one and had to play with older, more experienced girls due to having a late fall birthday. At first, I looked at it as a obstacle that might hold me back achieving my goals. However, I quickly realized that if I push myself and rise up to the challenge it will help build me into a stronger player and force me to play at my best level possible to be able to compete with the older girls.
Field hockey has also taught me that through strong commitment, sacrifice, and a lot of time and dedication I can do whatever I put my mind to. It might not always be easy and I may not win every game but that pushes me to dig even deeper. I have also learned that I am looked up to by the younger players and I can use this leadership to make lasting friendships and make a difference in someones life. It is my goal to play field hockey in college in a competitive program while getting the best education possible. I am so excited to see where this takes me in life!
