I fell in love with the game at a young age. Since the time I could walk I've had a glove on one hand and a ball in the other. I have been blessed with the opportunity to play for amazing coach's, some of which played in college They've told me throughout out my years of playing to never take the game for granted because one day it all comes to an end. I take this to heart because baseball is a large part of my identity, so I leave everything I have on the field because I know someday I will have to hang my cleats up. My freshman year of high school was a very memorable season for me. In the years prior I played on very good teams that usually placed at tournaments, but this year was different. We had a bunch of new players and we struggled at first. I don't take losing lightly, I go into every game feeling like my team can and will win. At the start of the season our team chemistry was really low and a lot of the guys didn't get along with each other. This led to us starting of the season with a ruff patch and we lost most the games in our first month of playing together. About half way through the season our team turned everything around, we started winning heavily due to team chemistry. We were all staying in a house together at a tournament and we truly became a family. I realized at the end of the year that the only way to be successful as a team is to play like a team, you have to have trust in every player on your team.
My academic goals for high school include graduating with a 3.8 GPA or better. While in college I plan to graduate toward the top of my class. I plan to keep a 3.5 GPA or better. Being Diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes was a bump in the road for me, but its never changed how I play. I still play with everything I have and compete. I just have to make sure and manage my Diabetes. I'm very confident I go into every game with the idea that my team has what it takes to win. I am very consistent and have a win at all costs attitude. Everybody has an off day here and there, but I tend to have them very rarely. I'm always trying to find a way to help my team win. I'm willing to do anything with in the rules of the game whether that means wearing a 90mph fastball or laying out for a ball. Thank you so much for reading my personnel statement and I promise you wont be disappointed if you show interest in me.
Sincerely,
Calvin Webb
