I am Brandon Barbery. I am a left hander pitcher (LHP). I play for C.D. Hylton High School (Bulldogs) where for the 2nd consecutive year we won our District and VA AAA Northwest Region. I expect to be the Bulldogs number one 2014 pitcher.
In addition to varsity baseball, I am a three year letterman on Hylton’s swim team, making the District and Regional Teams each season. I was chosen as captain of the team this past season.
I am an excellent student. I have a 3.99 GPA. I will graduate in 2014 with an advanced diploma; projected class rank of 46 out of 525.
I am working extremely hard to meet my goal of becoming a college pitcher. In addition to personal workouts with my pitching coach I play on 2 travel clubs.
My strengths as a pitcher has always been my ball movement; curve, cutter, and 2-seam fastball. I generate a lot of weak ground balls. My goal this summer has been to get my consistent fastball velocity to 87.
PW 8/2/14 scouting notes stated for my pitching mechanics: High 3/4 arm slot; Clean, Extends, Stabs; Slow/deliberate, Gather himself well delivery, Repeats well; Hides ball well; Keeps hitter off balance; Command of pitches.
I have not committed to a college. I am exploring all options. I plan to make my decision in the Fall. I want to play on a team where I can contribute as a freshman LHP and continue my academic success.
I have been fortunate to play on teams with exceptional and talented players. I offer to any team a player who aims for perfection and works hard to earn the respect of his teammates and coaches. Repeatedly over the years my coaches and instructors tell me two of my best traits are my coach-ability and leadership-ability.
