When asked where I get my baseball talents from, many are surprised when I don’t tell them from my parents but rather I get my sharp skills from my grandma. Ever since I can remember, she has encouraged me, played endless games of catch with me, and emphasized the importance of education with athletics. Our family moved from Pennsylvania to Texas when I was eight years old and although I don’t see my grandma as much as either of us would like, she’s my biggest influence and strongest supporter. With that, I’ll credit her with shaping my baseball successes.
With the move to Texas, I’ve been blessed with the opportunities of embracing the unbelievable Texas baseball culture and amazing coaches, instructors, and venues. Playing baseball in the 5-6A high school district in Texas is extremely competitive. Sixty-four freshmen tried out for our high school freshman team of twenty. I push myself every day to prove that I am coachable and am worthy of being one of those elite twenty. It’s that same motivation that I use in my academics and it will be that strong work ethic that will propel me to the next competitive levels in high school then onwards to college as a student athlete in your program!
