Personal Statement

My name is Stephan G. Perez-Collazo. I currently reside in Puerto Rico and I am in the twelve (12th) grade, class of 2015 at the Puerto Rico Baseball Academy & High School (PRBAHS). I am seventeen (17) years old and my date of birth is December 28, 1997. I completed an accelerated Academic program for 9th to 10th grade in the PRBAHS, I will be seventeen (17) years old when I graduate from High School. I am a Catcher with a height of 5'10 and weight of 170 pounds. My best throwing time to 2nd base are: 1.99, 1.97, and 1.95. In the last physical examination I made the 60 yards dash in 7.8 seconds.
I’m detailed driven, a quick learner and an effective decision maker. I’m coachable, open to learn, with accurate throwing ability; and a good arm. I have been able to develop a quick catch and release. I’ve also developed great blocking skills, and have good hitting ability. I consider myself a disciplined hitter and excel as a line drive hitter and often make good at bats.  I do not consider myself a home run hitter as of right now, but I can hit from gap to gap. Not only do I show my dedication on the field, I am also a responsible student. Over the past several years, I have learned to develop patience, perseverance, bravery, commitment, diligence, enthusiasm, humility, and obedience. I have no doubt that these virtues will help me excel in the near future, if given the opportunity.
I would like to pursue a career in Marketing and/or Management with the goal to gain the tools to become a successful business owner. I want to attend college where I can pursue my goal of combining education with baseball and work hard to improve my athletic skills and hopefully play professional baseball someday. To accomplish this, I will push myself in the classroom and on the field to continue developing further both my education and baseball skills. I am open to all options and want to ultimately find the right college match at the highest level of competition possible. I hope to become a great role model to all peers and make my parents proud. I’m a hands-on baseball player and well-rounded student, with excellent bilingual communications skills in English and Spanish. I truly hope I am considered and given the opportunity to reach my goals in life.
Thank you dearly.
