Some people ask me "Why do you like baseball?". I always think, "How could you not love baseball." The sound of cracking leather when you catch a ball. The air-filling sound of the bat and the smooth feeling when you make contact with the ball. That feeling when you make a game changing play and get the entire team pumped up. The atmosphere and feeling in your stomach when you go up to bat with the game on the line, the chance to change the game completely with simply one swing of the bat. How could you not love that feeling and challenge. The feeling of success and accomplishment. That is why I play baseball, for the challenge and that amazing feeling when you succeed.
Baseball is and always has been important to me. I have accomplished and come so far from when I began. My biggest accomplishment was when I hit a batting average of .500 last spring on my freshmen team as a starting 8th grader. Baseball though hasn't always been easy. When I was younger, I struggled with the sport. I was not a very good hitter or fielder and was made fun of for it. But, I did not let that stop me. I trained and did everything I could to get better and it paid off. I learned through the years of playing baseball that hard work and determination pays off. So because of that, I am always determined to get better and to never give up, whether I'm going through a high in my career or a low. I've learned to enjoy the process.
Baseball is not the only thing that I take pride in. I also take pride in my school work and strive to do the best I can. In school I have straight A's and I am ranked 7th out of my class of 750 students for grade point average. I am interested in engineering and I was excepted as a freshman to take an engineering class in school. I also play the trumpet in the my high school marching band. The band consists of 305 members. I was selected to be a 1st trumpet. There has not been a freshman 1st trumpet for the last 4 years and I am very humbled by this. In addition, I am part of the Rising Stars Baseball Program and play on their travel team in competitive tournaments. I am proud to be a well rounded student athlete. It requires discipline, focus, hard work and organizational skills to succeed in all that I do.
I am so blessed to have been given the ability to do all of these things. All of these things have made me the person I am today. It has made me determined, organized, always wanting to get better, and very competitive. I am thankful to God for making me the way I am and hope this makes me a good prospect for you.
I look forwarded to talking with you soon!
