Maxfield "Max" Lane '15 Recruiting Profile

I consider myself a dedicated student athlete, passionate about baseball.  I am a right-handed pitcher/catcher/infielder, and I bat left-handed.  I enjoy studying the finer points of the game of baseball, which adds an extra aspect to my pitching and keeps me one step ahead of the batters.  I am always willing to step into any position on the field to help my team be successful.  For example, I started catching my sophomore year when my varsity team was without a reliable catcher.  I worked to learn the position and have come to enjoy catching.  I also have pitched on our varsity team since my freshman year, and my performance has improved with each season.  This past spring, as a junior, I finished the season with a team low ERA of 1.03 and a K/BB of 4.2 (38/9).   Additionally, I have batted over .400 for the past two seasons and have produced the highest OBP for our team, leading to the honor of being named to several all-conference teams.  I am an intense competitor, who enjoys the thrill of being placed in tight spots when pitching, as well as pitching in and closing out important games.  Despite my size, I have been able to successfully compete at a high level on the ball field, by working to perfect my technique and skills and to improve my strength.  In the classroom, I am an extremely dedicated student consistently among the top three students in my class.  I am enrolled in many challenging classes, including numerous Honors and AP classes.  Overall, I hope to continue to become a well-rounded individual who can lead and achieve as both a scholar and an athlete, and I strive to play baseball at the highest level possible.
