Hello, I am Brady Kinnersley. I attend Wauseon High School and am in the 2016 high school graduation class. My freshman year I made varsity playing both 2nd and pitcher. I was a starter as a freshman for almost every game, then got a letter and received MVP of our first playoff game. That same year, I was also invited to play Coast to Coast Baseball in Arizona and was the youngest to attend. Entering my sophomore year, I was still a varsity baseball player. I also made a summer showcase team, Lima Locos, and still the youngest to make it with juniors and seniors. This coming spring as a Junior, I am looking forward to play with my new school team and hopefully my role is still the same as my old school. Wauseon has high expectations this year. We're looking at repeating as league champs and hoping to make it to at least regionals. We have 3-4 guys in Wauseon pursuing their baseball career out of high school and hope to pursue my career as well.
I am a hungry player. I want to do great things with great ball players and a great coaching staff. I know that that goal can't happen without hard work and dedication. I have a Jugs pitching net at my house and I use it regularly. I’m that player that between double headers I’m getting more grounders on the side. I try and make the most difficult plays look easy, and that only comes with hard work. I want to make the jump from high school to college, and I am not going to let anything get in my way of that. Now something that stops a lot of great players unable to make that transition is grades. I am currently carrying a 3.0 gpa and I am taking Honors Algebra 2. I take grades very seriously, I know not a lot of money is given to baseball programs and so a lot of the baseball scholarships are combined with academics. I am still not completely sure what I want to major in, but it is either Accountant or athletic training. I would love to help other athletes get back on their feet and get back to what they love doing.
I understand that there are always possibilities of injury, and that my sports career could be over. That is another reason why academics is so important to me.
I am a calm player. I don’t let my surroundings dictate my actions. I play the game of baseball, not the game of running my mouth. I never had issues with other players on the field, I have never had an issue with a coach, or an umpire. I don’t allow trash talk, bad calls, or screaming/yelling fans change my game play. I just don’t let that stuff affect me. I love and respect the game, I love and respect those who have played the game, who are playing the game, and those who will play the game.
