Hey my name is Daniel Dellinger, I am 14 years old and I go to school at Newton-Conover High School in North Carolina and I am in 9th grade. I throw Left handed and I hit on the Left side of the plate, I play CF and pitch a little in relieve. I don't know my running times or throwing(pitching) speed. My pitches are 4 Seam Fastball, 2 Seam Fastball, Circle Change up, Knuckle Curve, and i'm working on a slider but i'm scared it will hurt my arm, let me know if i should keep working on it OR if it will hurt my arm and I should stop throwing it. I know my throwing time from RF to 3rd Base is 3.1 seconds. In travel ball, I played for the HBA Lake Monsters that where coached by Brian Harvey and Kris Harvey. I made a NATIONAL ALL STAR TEAM and at this tournament there was teams from all across the country, there was around 24 teams in my age group and they required a team to have 11 players. I no longer play for the Lake Monsters, I now play for Heat baseball in newton and I play School ball for my high school. For baseball, weather is not a problem I have played anywhere from 6 degrees to 100 degrees and at that same Nationals Tournament that I made the All Star Team the Heat Index there was around 111 degrees(on turf fields).
My 8th grade Baseball stats in 12 Games(7 Innings)
Hitting: Left Handed and I hit Lead Off or 2nd
Batting Average: .481 (13/27) 19 walks, 5 singles, 6 doubles, 2 triple, 11 Stolen Bases, and 13 RBI's
On Base Percentage: .695
Fielding: CF and I throw Left handed
0 Errors, 8 people thrown out, I threw 3 out at home, 3 out at 3rd, 1 out at 2nd, and even 1 out at 1st
I haven't missed a fly ball all year and I haven't missed a ground ball all year.
Pitching: Left Handed Pitcher and again I throw a 4 Seam Fastball, 2 Seam Fastball, Circle Change Up, Knuckle Curve, and i'm working on a Slider (again let me know if I should keep working on my Slider)
My coach said he doesn't want me to pitch very much because we didn't have anyone else to play CF.
But I've pitched in 5 Games, 4 in relieve, 14 Innings Pitched, 15 Strike Outs, and 5 Runs Allowed
OK so ever since i was born i have dreamed of playing baseball the rest of my life, getting a college scholarship for baseball an then getting drafted to the MLB. But not letting anything get in my way, not having any distractions. But in all that my dad has always told me the #1 things in going somewhere in baseball is grades, attitude, and hard work. Well so far in my life I've kept A’s and B’s in school and i currently attend, I've never really had an attitude I just try to be coach able, admit when you are wrong or messed up, and don’t talk back just do what you are told. OK now with the hard work part you have no idea the work that I put into baseball just think of nothing but baseball for 300+ days the year. OK in my days I do baseball I start by stretching, then 300 great 100% swings (100 middle, 100 outside, 100 inside), then I start throwing at 15 feet and after every 2-5 throws go back a step or two until you are at about 300 feet (a football field), then I take about 250 fly balls and 250 ground balls, and at that point it’s been about 5-10 hours. Then after that you get a 30 minute break. When that's done then you get into the ladder drills and speed drills, when you are done with that then you get to them weights and you rotate legs and arms everyday and now if you did all this stuff correctly then you are super tired by now and you feel like you should quit or all this isn't worth it but you know that you got to keep the grind, you can’t be told to do work, to keep going, to keep moving forward…. You got to want to do it yourself, you got to want to be great, to be the best, to be better than everyone else at every part of the game and that’s what it take to win or go somewhere in baseball… and this is what i’m willing to do for the rest of my life until i’m the greatest of all time, then I am going to work even harder.
