Gary Otten '16 Recruiting Profile

  I can not imagine my life without baseball.  It has been something incorporated into each day of my life for the past 10 years.  Baseball has helped me become the man I am today.  Whether it be on or off the field, I know that it is my responsibility to give 110% to the task at hand.  I try to lead by example and I also love to share what I know about the game with younger ballplayers.  I have been blessed and I would love to take my career to the next level.  I am currently in my junior year at Monsignor Farrell High School in Staten Island, New York.  I am a part of the Scholars Program, a group of about 30 or so kids who are pushed through a rigorous curriculum in hopes of reaching our full potential.  I have always dedicated myself to my school work and thoroughly believe that it is my priority.  I hope that baseball will allow me to continue my studies in the near future.  While also working hard in class, I push myself on the field, in the cage, and even in the park.  I am nothing less than a perfectionist and value every repetition that I get on the field, and in the batters box.  During my 2014 High School season I started out as the shortstop for the Junior Varsity.  I was called up to Varsity 2 games into the season to fill the role of a key injured player and played where they needed me to after he made his return.  I would love to go as far as baseball will take me and continue to work and push myself to be the best possible player that I can be.
