Personal Statement

My name is Taylor Price and I'm a future graduate of the class of 2017. I have just recently transferred to Cooperstown High School from Richfield Springs Central School. My entire life I have grown up around sports whether I was partaking in the activity or just simply watching. I have played a various number of sports throughout my years of high school. Whether it was organized or not I was always doing some sort of physical activity. I have recently dropped playing other organized sports so that I may dedicate my time better towards academics and improving on the sport that I love.  I could not stand the fact of knowing that someone was working on their baseball and getting better, while I was focusing on another sport.  I am determined to get better so that I may excel, everyday after school and on the weekends I am ether at the gym or at the field working on my hitting, my fielding, my pitching and/or my baserunning.

I value baseball tremendously, but I consider my education more important. Therefore I am looking for a college that will give me a quality education along with a strong competitive baseball program. Throughout my years of playing baseball I was announced captain of my Varsity High School team as a sophomore for my determination, my leadership skills, and being a fierce competitor, all on and off the field. I do not focus much on personal achievements, for during the season and after the season I am not worried about statistics or how well I did. All that matters to me is that I contributed to the team and that I preformed to the best of my ability so that we had a chance to win.

Events

  • Camp/Event
  • Perfect game Super 25 National Championship
  • 7/18/16 to 7/24/16
  • I was giving up he opportunity to participate in this event because I was invited by the NY Storm to come down and pitch for their team. I pitched 5-2/3 innings with 2 walks, 6 hits, 3 k's, and a 0 ERA.
  • Camp/Event
  • Eric Cressey Sports Performance Facility
  • 8/10/15 to 8/15/15
  • They preformed a pitching evaluation and created me a workout plan. The pitching evaluation consisted of improving connection throughout delivery, ways to increase accuracy, and correction some mechanics to improve velocity. They evaluated my body through various exercises and stretches. They now provide me with a month to month pitching workout specific to what I need improvement on.

  • 7/31/15 to 8/02/15
  • Our team came in 8th place, BA .438 with 16 AB, 7 H (5 1B, 1 2B, 1 3B, 1 HBP), 7 IP, ERA 0.00, 6 K's, 0.120 BAA

  • Camp/Event
  • Ron Wolforth's Elite Pitchers Bootcamp
  • 7/24/14 to 7/27/14
  • The camp was to teach the players/coaches who attended about arm care. They taught how to spot and fix any mechanical issues that would eventually lead to or immediately caused any arm pain, so that the player would have better arm endurance throughout their career. This was through the use of drills and analyzing your delivery, looking for things such as fore-arm fly out, an elevated distal humerus, inefficient glove side and many more.
