As a freshman I was the starting shortstop for my high school team. My team was very talented, we were ranked number one in New York City going into the playoffs and lost in the city championship. However, the following year we weren't as talented and I was named captain. This year I felt that I learned how to be a leader and persevere. We came in first place again in the regular season but did not do that well in the playoffs due to injuries to our pitching staff.
I learned commitment, hard work, and personal sacrifice. I had to be committed to my team and teammates all the time. I sacrificed my personal time by training on my own and doing conditioning. I hope to be a part of a school where I can excel academically and athletically to help me become prepared for life and to be a productive member of society. I feel that I have the work ethic to succeed at the next level.
