Anthony Baumgart '17 Recruiting Profile

I was introduced to baseball at a very young age by my father.  I have been lucky that I have always been very athletic at every sport I pursued, but I always have been drawn to the sport of baseball and it has become my passion.  I have been fortuitous that the area where I have grown up has always been very competitive for baseball.  From my little league, which lost the State of Illinois championship game when I was 12, to my present high school, which consistently sends multiple athletes to division 1 schools or they even get drafted by the major leagues.  What those experiences has taught me is that baseball is more then just catching a ball and swinging a bat.  You learn quickly that the effort you extend on days when games are not played is more important for your success.  You need to dedicate yourself and take the time to making your body and brain as strong as possible to be able to compete against other very talented athletes for playing time.

I feel the school that offers the right balance of superior athletics and competition along with outstanding academics is what I am trying to find.  My high school, Carmel Catholic, provides an excellent balance between academics and athletics and I believe that is the environment I thrive in the best.
