Personal Statement

My name is Zack Forney, a class of 2015 catcher at Cary Grove High School in Cary, IL. Thank you for your time to review my profile. I’d like to take a moment to tell you a little bit more about me.

· Attending a college that values high education as well as sports is a priority for me.

Academically:

· 4.2 weighted GPA on a 4.0 scale

· Member of the National Honors Society

- 2014-2015 Illinois State Scholar and Prairie State Achievement Award recipient in Math & Science

· High Honor Roll every semester of high school

· Scored a 27 on the ACT

- Fox Valley Conference Academic All Conference

- IHSBCA Academic All State

Athletically:

· I have always been a team first player and that is echoed best by my high school coaches with the following quote that appeared in the CGHS football sports program;

o “Team first player that is one of the most consistent players in our program and a great example for all our players.”

· Verified pop times ranging between 1.90 and 2.0 (average of 1.95)

· Recorded 4th best pop time (1.96) and ranked 10th in overall catching performance at the February 16, 2014 Prep Baseball Report Illinois Preseason All- State Invite

· As a catcher I pride myself on keeping my pitchers in rhythm which among other things, includes playing strong defense (blocking), studying the scorebook in between innings so I know how we've pitched the upcoming lineup throughout the game, and talking with them between innings

· Starting middle linebacker and captain on Cary Grove football team (Class 7A state runner up)

- Fox Valley Conference All Conference Selection

- Daily Herald Fox Valley All Area Honorable Mention

- Perfect Game Midwest All Region Honorable Mention

· 4 year member of the Pro Player Canes travel team

I have prepared a highlight video containing some game and showcase footage from this past summer that you can view within my profile or at http://youtu.be/HazkCIC8CxY.

Again, thank you for taking the time to review my profile.
