Ty Shylanski '17 Recruiting Profile

I am passionate about baseball, but I put as much focus on my academics as athletics. It is important to me to attend a school where I can realize both my academic and athletic goals. Academically, I am undecided at this time.

Athletically, I have worked hard to develop the athletic skills needed to play at a high level and to understand and apply the tactical needs of the game. I consider myself a team leader. I have developed my skills to be a multi-positional player, with my strongest positions being outfield and first base. On the field I try to be a positive influence with my teammates by supporting them.  I am more comfortable leading the team by actions more than words. I like to consider myself a "game time player".

I think my baseball sense shows more awareness than others I play with, which allows me to play with confidence. I am aggressive in every aspect of the game, but temper that aggressiveness by making good decisions on the field for positive results. Hitting is my passion. When I get in the box I am confident, positive and focused on what I need to do. I am generally a power hitter, but can adapt to all situations.

I want to attend a college where I can fit into the line-up immediately, and which also fits my future educational goals. I have opened my college search to all Divisions. I know I can contribute immediately and with success for any college.
