Personal Statement

Growing up I was involved in many team sports, as my parents believed it was important to learn the value of teamwork.  For several years now I've been focusing strictly on baseball as I have found the sport to be most enjoyable to play.  What I've also learned is that the game builds character and there are many life lessons learned within the game itself and with each victory and defeat.  Baseball amongst high school students in the State of Hawaii is very competitive and because opportunity for student athletes from Hawaii to attract collegiate recruiters and scouts are limited, I knew I had to put in the extra work both on the field and in the classroom.

I have been on my high school baseball varsity team from my freshman year and had to work hard to earn my starting position this year.  I spent every morning prior to the start of the school day in the weight room and every afternoon honing my fielding and batting skills on the diamond.  The extra work paid off for me as I was voted to the 2015 All-Conference First Team and 2015 All-State Second Team at the third base position.  Likewise I took that same work ethic into the classroom taking AP courses and raising my cumulative GPA from 3.0 to 3.28.

From a young age it was always instilled in me to work hard, dream big and strive for excellence.  Having younger siblings also gave me the sense of responsibility in becoming a role model for them.  Also, having a father who is a law enforcement officer kept me on the right track and gave me insight on how poor choices can change someone's life significantly.

My goal is to continue to improve in the classroom and on the baseball field, while earning an acceptance into college where I can further my education, earn a degree in Pharmacology and/or Forensic Science and continue to play baseball at the collegiate level.

Thank you for taking the time to view my profile and personal statement.
