My collegiate goal is simply to attend the best academic college combined with playing at the highest level of baseball suited to my abilities. I am a very good candidate to attend college and to play baseball because I work extremely hard to achieve a high GPA (3.5) while playing and excelling in three varsity sports. I am a determine person, a leader and a teammate who will do everything in my power to win both in the classroom and on the field.
I am currently in the middle of my junior year. I feel that baseball is my best sport but it is not the only sport I concentrate on which I believe is a good and bad thing. In my view there are two good things about not playing only baseball.
First, I feel playing varsity football and ice hockey makes me a better overall athlete. In a single word, balanced. I have been elected as a captain of the varsity football and hockey teams for my senior (2017-2018) year. I will be a three year starter on the offensive line by the time I am done in football. Additionally, I play defense in ice hockey and I am on the starting line. By the time I graduate I will have been on the varsity ice hockey team for three years. Including three years of varsity baseball, when I am finished at high school I will have nine varsity letters.
Second, I am not burned out by playing baseball because I only play four months of the year. I believe, and my coaches tell me, that I have tremendous upside in baseball. Last Spring by the middle of my high school season, as a sophomore, I started over a senior who is currently playing college baseball. As a 16 year old catcher I made my district U19 Legion Zone 4 all-star team. I was invited to play in numerous showcases including the CT Rawlings Futures Showcase. This year I am the starting catcher of the team.
The only bad thing about playing three varsity sports is that the baseball "world", namely college coaches, do not know me....yet. I believe they will by the time I get through my high school varsity and Legion seasons in 2017.
