As a young boy, I have always dreamt of being a college baseball player. I remember as a child impersonating Dustin Pedroia every time I would step on the ball field; as the ball was being pitched, I would do a little leap just like my idol did. As I got older and started realizing that baseball is not a career you can just choose and do for the rest of your life, that baseball is an art form that takes years of hard work and dedication, I was ready to do anything and everything it took. There were times when I was so beat up and run down that just quitting seemed like the best option, but that is not who I am. I am not a quitter. I always stand and fight no matter how hard I have been beat up, and that is how I intend to stay to make my dream become a reality.
My favorite line that I have ever heard as a baseball player is, "The baseball gods are always watching you, so give them a good show." I interpret this as giving it all you have out on the ball field. I live by this quote and every time I step on the ball field, I intend to give the baseball gods the greatest damn show. No matter what, if I'm just having one of those days where nothing is working on the baseball field, I will still be giving it my all because I am dedicated. I intend to extend my efforts to the collegiate level not just for the sake of my personal achievement, but for the sake of my teammates. A team strives on the hard work of every teammate and I want to be a team player.
I look at challenges as a way to expand my knowledge as a student in class and a student of baseball. I enjoy the hard work it takes to accomplish new challenges. I look forward to the challenges that college has to offer.
