Personal Statement

My name is Travis Wilkie and I attend St. Augustine High School in San Diego, California. I am in the graduating class of 2014. As a Freshman, I was fortunate to make the Varsity Baseball team as a catcher and worked exceptionally hard during the season. My sophomore baseball season (27-8) is complete. I was named First Team All Eastern League. St. Augustine won the Eastern League with 11 wins and 1 loss, losing in the third game of the semi-final series in CIF Playoffs. I am the starting catcher at the Varsity level and I finished the season batting .363. I am constantly working to enhance and improve my skills throughout the year in an effort to become stronger and quicker. I have played the game of baseball for roughly 11 years with the top club teams in San Diego (San Diego STARS and the San Diego SHOW) and have truly grown to love the game of baseball. Few players out work me, as I play to win being a team player who leads on and off the field. I work to succeed in the classroom as well, as I maintain a 4.50 GPA. On May 18, 2012, I received 5 awards for my sophomore year in the areas of Chemistry, Honors English, Spanish 3, Lifetime Fitness, and Drawing. I am a member of The National Society of High School Scholars and member of The Society of Saints Scholars Program. I am a member of the Rotary Interact Club at Saints, and also am a guest columnist for my school newspaper The Augustinian. Academics play a principle role in my life as I strive to attain superior grades in every class. I also give back to the community through various outreach programs such as San Diego Rotary and Catholic outreach. I am a versatile student-athlete, and believe I can compete and win at the next level. Thank you for your interest.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
